What is Quality Consciousness

Quality awareness refers to people’s objective and subjective views and attitudes towards quality (including product quality, work quality) and various activities related to it in production and operation activities, that is, the degree of awareness and attention to improving product quality, as well as the determination and desire to improve product quality. People’s actions are dominated by brain consciousness. What kind of consciousness will produce what kind of action. It is hard to imagine that a person with wrong quality awareness can make good products. Only when his ideology rises to a certain height, coupled with the corresponding work skills, he can make good products. Someone once said: “Height” is very important. It reflects a person’s cultivation and connotation. It is difficult for a person who has done or seen great things to be mediocre. It is conceivable that quality awareness plays an important role in product quality.

How to Establish

Quality is the life of the enterprise. If the product quality is not good, the market will be lost. Without the market, the enterprise will lose its life. Therefore, as an employee of the enterprise, you must have the determination and desire to improve product quality, which means that all employees of the enterprise must establish a good quality awareness.

A. Establishing the awareness that quality is the lifeblood of an enterprise

All employees must realize that if the product quality is not good, there will be no market for the product. If there is no market for the product, the company will lose its profit source. After a long time, the company will go bankrupt, and the employees will be unemployed. Of course, for our company, the current product market is good, and we hope it will be better in the future, but we must “be prepared for danger in times of peace” and make our product quality better.

Everything is customer-centric, and we should regard ourselves as customers, operators of the next process, and consumers of products. In this way, we will consciously do our work well. If everyone does their work well, the quality of the product will be guaranteed. If we cut corners at work, it will harm our own interests.

“Product quality is produced and designed, not tested. We must do things right the first time.” This is not just a slogan, it reflects the preventive nature of product quality. If we do not control quality from the source, it will be difficult for us to control product quality. Even if we invest a lot of inspection manpower in production, the large number of defective or even waste products produced during production due to lack of control from the source will greatly increase the cost of the product, causing a heavy burden and loss to the company’s production costs. Moreover, some product quality problems may not be discovered and remedied in the later process, which requires us to do things right the first time to prevent quality problems from happening.

Quality management involves the entire process and the entire company. The work between each process and between all departments of the company must be orderly and effective. All quality management personnel and operators are required to strictly follow the procedures. If they do not work according to the procedures, the chances of errors will increase and the quality of the products cannot be guaranteed.

Dr. Wang, a quality management expert, believes that 80% of quality problems originate from management, while only 20% originate from employees. In other words, defects controllable by managers account for about 80%, while defects controllable by operators are generally less than 20%.

There is no best quality, only better quality: Quality improvement is a continuous, cyclical and constantly improving process, which follows the PDCA cycle model. The PDCA cycle model can be briefly described as follows:
P-Plan: Develop an improvement plan based on product requirements:
D-Implementation: Implement the plan:
C-Inspection: Inspect the process and product based on product requirements:
A-Disposal: Take measures to continuously improve product quality.

Ensuring quality and pursuing profits are the eternal goals of enterprises. To develop, enterprises have to pay attention to production costs, but cost is closely related to quality. If the quality of products is not good and customers often return and complain, then the cost will be very high, and even the enterprise will be forced into a desperate situation. However, the stricter the quality, the more beneficial it is to the enterprise. On the contrary, excessively improving product quality will cause excess quality and also increase production costs. Therefore, when we produce, we require each process and link to be strictly in accordance with customer standards, so that we can minimize costs and improve market competitiveness.

With the development of the times, the concept of quality management is constantly being updated and needs to be learned. Successful companies in the 21st century will belong to those learning and growing companies. Strengthening internal training and improving all employees will make the company flourish and change with each passing day. Therefore, “quality begins with education and ends with education.”
